The government has directed the suspension of the additional GH¢1 Energy Sector Shortfall and Debt Repayment Levy (D-Levy) on diesel for two months.
The suspension, which takes effect from October 1 to November 30, 2026, follows the levy introduced through the Energy Sector Levies (Amendment) Act, 2025 (Act 1141).
3News understands that a directive to the Commissioner-General of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) said the suspension applies only to the additional GH¢1 component imposed on diesel under Act 1141.
“All other levies, rates and charges under the Energy Sector Levies Act, 2015 (Act 899), as amended, shall continue to apply and be collected in accordance with the law,” the directive stated.
The Commissioner-General has been instructed to take the necessary administrative and operational steps to ensure the suspension is implemented promptly and uniformly at all relevant collection points.
The directive also requires the GRA to notify the National Petroleum Authority (NPA), Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs), Bulk Distribution Companies (BDCs) and other relevant stakeholders.
